2020 U.S. Census

The Census occurs every 10 years, and has been an on-going event since 1790! It is run by the U.S. Census Bureau, a non-partisan government agency, and it counts the population of the United States, the number of households, and more on a specific date.

This time the Census will occur on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

Why does the Census matter?

While it may not seem to directly affect you, your participation is quite important. If people are not counted, it can affect major things for the State of Illinois and Franklin Park itself such as the amount of federal funding received and congressional representation. Read more about how the Census affects more than you think.

How does it work?

In March 2020, you will receive an invitation in the mail to participate in the Census. You will have 3 ways to respond: online, by phone or by mail.
