LENDING POLICIES

VIDEO CASSETTE / DVD CIRCULATION POLICY

  1. Patron must have a Suburban Library System member Library Card.
  2. Patron must be 18 years of age.
  3. video cassette/DVDs can be checked out for five (5) working Days.
  4. There is a $.50 fine for video cassette/DVDs that have not been rewound upon return.
  5. No charge for rental of videos
  6. There is a $2.00 per day overdue charge for each cassette, up to $20.00 maximum.
  7. One person may check out only two(2) cassettes at any time.
  8. video cassette/DVDs are not renewable.
  9. Patron is responsible for the cost of replacing damaged or lost cassettes.


RENEWAL OF BOOKS

Any book, with the exception of reference materials out on special loan, may be renewed, provided it has not been reserved. Books may be renewed only twice.
Magazines and pamphlets may circulate for two weeks with no renewal allowed.
Renewals may be made over the telephone provided the book does not have a waiting list and is not overdue.
Books on a waiting list are not renewable.

FINES

A fine of $.10 per day will be made on each book overdue.
A standard fine of $.10 per day should be charged on all reading materials.
A fine of $2.00 per day will be made on each Library owned film overdue.
A fine of $.10 per day will be made on each item of audio material overdue.
A maximum fine of $3.00 plus expense of collection, will be charged on all overdue books and recorded material with the exception of videocassettes.

RECORDED MATERIAL

AUDIO CASSETTES
A maximum of five cassettes (audio cassettes and /or audio books) may be borrowed for 2 weeks by cardholders.
COMPACT DISCS
A maximum of fivecompact discs may be borrowed for 2 weeks by cardholders.
A standard fine of $.10 per day shall be charged for records, audio cassettes, and compact discs.

AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT
LOST OR DAMAGED LIBRARY MATERIAL



If a book or other library material is reported lost, the patron will be charged the current retail price plus any fines due plus a processing fee. If the price is not available for lost materials, the amount will be determined by the librarian. Money (excluding fines) will be held for one month. If lost items are located within this time, money will be refunded, except for fines.
If a book is damaged, the patron will be charged an amount to be determined by the librarian.
If audio-visual material is severely damaged or broken, the patron will be charged the current retail price of the item.
Overdue accounts will be referred to a collection agency if necessary.


RETURNING OF LIBRARY MATERIALS

Over dues will be processed as follows:

  1. Two weeks after material's due date, patron will be called.
  2. One week later, a second call will be made.
  3. One week later, patron will be contacted by phone.
  4. One week later, patron will be sent a bill to include retail price of materials and fines due (daily fine will be charged up to billing date).
  5. Credit warning letter will follow in one week if material is still
    unaccounted for.
  6. Patron will be listed with credit agency one week from the credit warning letter.
    VACATION LOAN
    Arrangements may be made to borrow books for an extended time.



RESERVES

Library materials will be reserved for eligible borrowers who will be notified by phone when the material is available. Three library working days will be allowed for pick-up. (This will be lengthened depending upon circumstances of patron and number of reserves in question.)
The Library should be notified of change of name, address or telephone number.
